I do small runs of Internal grinding, hole diameters vary from 7mm to 32mm. Some of these are into a blind bore. Also 28mm in hard chrome plated brass.
My machine is a 60s model Overbeck 30, a small mechanically automated solid german made unit.
The machine automatically cross feeds each step towards the final diameter on each retracted stroke.
Im wondering if i should set it up to completely retract the grinding stone from the hole when it feeds, or have part of the stone in the hole. Should it pass completely through the open ended holes on the inwards stroke?
Im getting good results not completely retracting, but find i have to dress the stone often.
