Installation considerations/advice for larger (20x48) surface grinder?
Company I work for just purchased a Blohm HFS-512 20x48 surface grinder. Are there any installation considerations that might be specific to a larger surface grinder (as opposed to the smaller 6/12s, etc.)? I know it's best to get it positioned on one concrete slab rather than spanning two, but didn't know if any of you had other tips or tricks from previous installations?

The manual should show you what needs to be done to level. As long as there is a good floor, say 8" thick I think you may not need a special pad, but a pad specific for the machine will not hurt you.
I don't know if they would have you pull the table and level the base right off of the ways or can you level off of the table.
If there are areas for hold down bolts use them. This locks the machine to the floor so it will not move and helps when leveling.
You can use threaded rod and concrete epoxy. We have bought int he past from Mcmaster carr in the concrete anchor area. We buy in the caulk tube size.
