Kent Grinder Repair

Hello, I have a Kent surface grinder with the auto down feed. I am new at this shop and when I first used the grinder, the adjustment on down feed didn't do anything, no matter what .001 per pass, and it kept grinding past zero. I opened the down feed box, and the "fan" shaped gear was out of position. It was upside down, nowhere near the adjustment gear. I got it in postion and put back together. The down feed is adjustable now and it stops feeding about .0005 before zero. Only problem is at"0" on feed adjsument, it feeds down about .0002-.0003 per pass. And at .0005 on adjustment it is feeding .001. Does anybody know how to fix this? Is the "fan" gear in wrong position? According to boss, it used to be accurate. Right now I am addressing some lube issues on the vertical ways. Thanks
