Good Morning,

I have a small 316ss shaft ~16mm diameter by 330mm length that i need ground to 14.988mm +-.005mm (center holes for grinding already in place)

Machined features as shown in diagram are already completed. I'd like to have this done somewhat locally (Somewhere between Boston, MA and Newport, RI)

If anyone can recommend a shop in the area, willing to do one off work of this nature i'd greatly appreciate it. (Or if anyone has a grinder sitting idle i wouldn't mind fedexing this lil guy a bit father away...)

Thanks in advance,

T

I had some titanium shafts done by Boston Centerless about 10 years ago. Centerless grinding is something we just don't do, and never seem to have a need for. This one was an odd-ball. I picked them out of a group of venders from an internet search and after calling a few vendors they seemed to be the best fit at the time for that small job.

Everything worked out, YMMV.

+1 for Baystate, they're great. Located in Plainfield CT, just off I-395.

Also you can try O J Hanratty Machine, they are in Coventry RI.

Edit: There is also a Baystate Machine located in Mass, not the same company.

That is more along the lines of a centerless job if you ask me. Leave the keyways out and centerless it and then machine in the keys.
