Do permanent mag chucks lose holding power over time and if so is it possible to remagnitize if thats the word?

What can happen is the mechanism that slides the magnets wears and then the magnet pack does not move into the full on position.
If it uses alnico magnets (which it probably will if it is old) if you pull it apart a % of the magnets power will be lost immediately. When assembled the chuck can be rezapped to full charge, but you need to find someone with a machine that can do it.
