I'm in the process of installing a DRO to my Cincinnati Monoset. There is a cover plate underneath the grind head fore and aft slide. I need to remove this plate , , made of 16 gauge steel , to replace it with a heavier material so I can mount the DRO read head on it.
The problem is this seemingly thin , almost fragile little plate has been installed with some kind of adhesive sealant and it refuses to budge.
Has anyone else had this problem and more importantly how did you manage to remove it.
....... and yes , I did remove the 8 dome head cap screws.
