I have and am about to startup using an Oliver 10 HP rubber roll grinder spindle. 7000 rpm .

Runs a 10 carbide" spiked rubberhog wheel , somthing like 18,000 feet per minute.... does a nice job

on real soft rubber rolls.

It is designed for the spindle to be charged with air pressure, to lessen coolant infiltration.....

Does any body have an idea what should the internal air pressure be ?

Thanks
Dave Lawrence

We set up a cylindrical grinder to keep coolant out of the bearings and we used 2 to 3 psi from a regulator. You don't want to blow the grease out of the bearings.

Yeah you don't need much, but it MUST BE DRY air or you will corrode the guts out of your spindle.
