Hi All,

From a recent post, I decided to move forward with a Lapmaster 15 to lap and polish some small ceramic plates.

I'm looking for some information regarding polishing in terms of the pad material to select. I've contacted lapmaster for a quote on their adhesive-backed pads, but I have a feeling it's going to be astronomical.

I've been surfing McMaster for some ideas. From what I've found, it seems that a polyurethane material (foam?) and polishing paste with water vehicle is typically used with ceramics. I'm thinking a polyurethane adhesive-backed foam such as 86375K65 and/or 86375K66 might be a good choice.

Is the polyurethane foam a good idea, or should I be looking at a different material?

Any rough ideas on how many pads and how much polishing compound I'd need to polish 100 surfaces?

Thanks for the help, clearly I'm in over my head on this one :D
