Amazing that so many of Lucius' friends and acquaintances were able to "pull strings" to get the clemency they desired.

Also interesting the suicide of the son David Pond - almost as if there was some genetic failing or tendency to recklessness in the family.

Mixed with genius is a fair dose of insanity. We remember the former generally.

Interesting, and well written. I know the whereabouts of a large boring mill, with a cast bronze nameplate reading "David W. Pond, successors to Lucius W. Pond". Must have been made soon after the trial.

David W. Pond Obituary shown at Iron Age - Google Books

They picture him as "retired" from machine tool work and working for NY stockbrokers at the time of his death.

The younger Pond really went criminal, resorting to becoming a stockbroker.............probably years of fighting rollercoaster economy of the time, while trying to keep a company going. However, later his conscience or circumstances caught up.
