Here is an update on the planer. I now have the machine up and running.

Google GEORGE BIRCH METAL PLANER ON U TUBE TO SEE IT RUNNING.

The drive unit is attached to the planer due to lack of room in.

the workshop. motor drive still need some mods.Also the video could be.

Nice work on a nice machine.

Only critique is you've got the drive "backwards" somehow. Normally the return of the platen is faster than the cut stroke. May be simply a matter of reversing the driver direction.
