Can't help a bit, but it reminds me of the Italian milling machine I first learned on. Don't know what it was and have never found an image that looks like it. It almost turned me off of machining forever, as the screws were 1/8" per turn. Try keeping track of that in your head.
I'm like Conrad - can't help on the machine. But it reminded me of driving through that area more than once during the 80s. While most of the US military was focused on defending the Fulda Gap in Germany during the Cold War there were a very few of us lucky enough to be forced to spend time in Northern Italy. When able to sample the local food and wine it was outstanding. Thanks for the memory jog!
