Just think in the day most parts were built in the railroads own shops and a engine that size completely rebuilt in a matter of weeks. Perhaps the frame casting was not made in the RR shops but the small parts most certainly were if need be. While interesting form a historical standpoint. It is taking the UP way to long to get this thing back going to keep my interest in following along at regular intervals. Hopefully when she is done perhaps they will publish a nice video showing the years of work in a reasonable length presentation or series of videos. And of course show her off around the country.

Those monsters are huge. Only one I gave seem up close is the 4004 on display in Holliday park In Cheyenne. Quite a task to take on. From what I just looked up 4004 is getting a cosmetic restoration as well to keep it preserved.
