Today I disassembled the top feed on my Cinci 24" shaper for general cleaning. I discovered a dowel rod and set screw that I had never noticed.
It is located about halfway of the gib key. My guess is that it could be a lock for the slide so that it doesn't drift during long cuts. Is that possible or is there another reason for it?
The last photo shows protrusion exaggerated for clarity.
