Jamestown, NY- right down the road from where I grew up. Home of Crescent Tool Co. for years. Also home to the "Engineering Appliance Co.", a bench lathe maker. Have never seen one, other than the ad in Cope's book. Jamestown is now basically dead, everyone having moved out to the suburbs.

Did not know about Accurite. Had a friend who used to work for Truck Lite and I got all kinds of free stuff...
Last time I was downtown in Jamestown, though, it was like a ghost town. At least 50% of the buildings are empty. Not unlike many, many other cities in the US.

Kind of OT, but the company I retired from bought out a local company that was one of the larger employers in the town. That was Jamestown Mutual Insurance Co. It was later reduced to a branch office and eventually closed and consolidated with an office in Syracuse. Think that all happened in the Eighties.
