Flying Low in a Chrysler Airflow – “High Speed Harry” Hartz at Bonneville: In 1934, high speed endurance runs were the thing to do for a manufacturer wanting to establish a reputation for their cars. Stop by The Old Motor and view two videos showing the run and a coast to coast economy run afterward with the same car on The Old Motor.

It just so happens I snapped a few photos of a beautiful 1934 Chrysler Airflow, it must have caused quite a stir in 1934. That aerodynamic snout is hard to love, but in my favourite blue colour I was won over.

I can't quite recall, but I think this is an eight cylinder and note the aluminium head.

I am pretty sure Chrysler and Dodge were running independent front suspension by 1934 (even in non-airflow), probably Desoto too, not sure about Plymouth.
