    Default Heller Tool (simonds tool)

The former Heller Tool that became Simonds Tool in Newcomerstown had an auction last week to basically bid for scrap work. The local paper did some photos of the facility.
When I first went to this plant there were rows of line shaft powered file cutting machines. An entire seperate machine shop. 2 story tall steam hammers.
The forth photo shows a grinding wheel that was used to grind each file blank flat before cutting
It looked like the photos when I left the last time.

Wow, so that's what's left of where my files came from. I still have four of them, and will try to keep one unused as long as possible.

Thanks for sharing that story, on another board we were discussing the Heller factory, reveal files for autobody lead working. Shame to see another American company go by the wrecking ball. tt

    So sad.
It also dashes my hopes for finding a file cutting machine.
