I am thinking about buying a 50A Eltee I also have the option to buy a 30A machine as well, I was wondering if any of you have one that you run on a Rotary converter? I know that Freedom Technologies is still in business that supports the Eltee's I suppose I could call them and ask them.

Alternatively, could you use a Frequency drive to run one?

Thanks in advance,

From what I have seen in the past, EDM's are very sensitive to voltage spikes and drops, don't know if an RPC would ever be good enough to do quality work.

Frequency drive: no way. RPC: you might do OK since the Eltee's are fairly low tech machines. I think you would do best to contact Freedom to be sure.

A DPC like a Phase Perfect would be the ideal choice, albeit pricey. But when you look at the price of a good quality RPC compared to the 50amp Phase Perfect unit, it might be easier to justify the cost.
