I would like to have a change gear adapter made for my lathe. The problems is the shaft which the gears mount on is a strange 6 spline involute shaft for which I cannot find pre-made couplings or buy standard change gears. I would like to make an adapter that would mount on the splined shaft. The OD of the adapter would be a simple single or double key design so that I could easily modify off-the-shelf gears to fit.
If I were to provide one of my existing change gears that fits the shaft, could someone scan it (for lack of a better word), create a file, and make an adapter on an EDM?
What would something like that cost?
