Hi,
My first post to this forum. Just found it yesterday. Looks like a valuable tool.
Anyway...I receintly aquired a Sodick wire machine (actually got it on ebay). Fortunatly I was able to get it going with some telephone support from Sodick. It is a 1986 vintage and I have been able to get it to push a .008 wire thru 1/2 inch AL plate at around .750 inches per min. I wonder how this compairs with modern machines.
My big question is the PC in the machine. It has a mid 80's NEC PC-9801 that serves as an interface between the internal machine computer and the world. It is currently running but I don't know for how long. Has anybody worked thru the computer upgrade on one of these machines and can give me some advice?
