Moving a Tall EDM

We recently purchased a Charmilles D1S and now it needs to get moved. The machine is 7'H x 2'W x 4'L. I think the heaviest part is in the base section. The holes on the side of the base are forklift points. There are no slots in the base.

The seller can load it into a trailer for us, but we need to find a way to get it off the trailer and into our shop. We plan on renting a flat drop trailer to get the machine as close to the ground as we can and then using a come-along to pull it out. Is this a good idea? Or are we better off getting a forklift to move it? What's a safe way to move it once we get it on concrete?

Thanks!

Generally you put heavy squre barstock in the holes, or more ideally, heavy round stock in there but you have to weld flat sections to one end of the stock so it doesn't roll off the forks. Then pick it up with by the barstock. This gets the center of gravity a little lower and widens your lifting base at the same time.

You want to use at least 2" diameter stock (steel).
