HAAS ballscrew preload question

HI,
We have a VF-2ss and the end carrier bearing went bad. The question I have is the opposit end from the servo bearing (whitch appears to be a thrust bearing) used as a thrust bearing or just to hold the screw from whipping. Already got a new bearing shipped in and it doesn't look like a thrust bearing, which is why I'm wondering if it should have a preload on it or not. It's listed in the manual as a 6304pp that is a standard bearing and that's what HAAS sent us. OH this is on X axis.

it is just used to prevent whipping. I first thought it was like my Miyano's but when I called service they just told me the far side bearing is just a support for whipping. Not for any preload.

Thanks, thats what we thought. We tried calling our hfo and they wouldn't give us a straight answer, basically they gave me the impression that they knew but wanted to fix it themselves for the almighty $$$.

Thanks again
Danny
