What to retrofit

I think i'm going to try to retrofit a old CNC mill with gecko drives and PC. What would you recomend to look for as far as an old cnc? or is anything in good condition with good motors and ball screws fair game. I am just a hobbiest.

Digging up annoying stuff back when PM allowed the lower end home shop CNC to be discussed as well....lockypoo time again..
