Mazak lathe drive alarms

I'm getting x axis and z axis drive alarms, code 13 and 14, manual says feedback has been lost or the error from resolver is out of range. Both resolvers have been replaced with new units but I'm still getting the alarms.

The alarms are both x and z but not at the same time I ran a program 10 times back to back no problems, then I go to set a drill offset and pow.

It seems to only happen when the machine is idle or when I'm jogging.

Control is a T2, lathe is a QT-8 from 1986

Any ideas?

Here is the Mitsubishi tech notes, found my problems for me. Though even though no one answered this one it may be of some use to someone in the future. I'm told this a common problem that occurs with age, on this model servo amp.

too many locked servo rotors on drives
transitor damager

thanks
not sure what the bill was
but you may want to trouble shot this stuff yourself next time
i believe all of the repair could have been handled by a repair and return of the 2 drives
mits and mazak both are very good about telephone support
and you don't have to be afraid to say
"i'm just a layman can you drag me through this"
and they will
and if you just make some notes the stuff comes out pretty good most of the time
good luck with your new (to you) mazak
mine of the same vintage have made millions of parts with very little trouble
don't be afraid to shot me a pm on this little guy
i have quite a bit of black book on qt8's

$2200 and change. Working on a servo drive is well out of my skill set I'm afraid.

I appreciate the advice though, very much and I will pm you if I run into any more messes with this little gem. Damn thing is almost totally refurbished at this point.

2200 is a good price to get 2 drives fixed
it's about 1500 or better to r&r one
the thing with these drives is theres about 10 wires and 3 plugs
and what are called jump (or shunt)pins
little orange things put on paired pins with numbers
next to them like S1,S2,and so on up to i think S25
you just make a little cheat sheet for each drive with what pins are jumped
now that you have 2 good drives if one axis srews up you can just swap drives
and see if problem goes with drive or stay's with axis
poof
you have just trouble shot the system
problem stay's with axis
send servo for repair
problem goes with drive to other axis
send drive for repair
all you need to know is how to mark the wires and plugs so you get them back in the same spot
but since you have this machine in a controled environment you should have little or no problems with drives again
compared to a brand new haas :(
what you got is bullet proof
