z axis following error

So I had my QT-8 running sweet, till last week I notice the z axis load is creeping up again, into the red on peck dril ops. The gain and droop are all adjusted fine. I had a Mazak service guy out today and we swap drives. I don't have an x axis load meter but the z axis meter (with the x axis drive) is flickering 0-10% at standstill (that's normal right?). I happen to have a brand new cable all rigged up for the z axis motor so we replace that too. After we switch everything back I get an immediate z axis following error on the z at start up, and the axis jumps about an inch with power on, like it is running away, then the error pops. The resolver is a couple months old.

So we went from bad to worse. Great.

We rechecked and triple checked the jumper settings on the cards.

Must be the motor right?

I'm going to call the shop suggested by WB on Monday so I can send the motor in for rebuild or whatever they do to fix it. Just wanted to see if there was anything else to check.
