hi
i have a welder which requires "415v single phase (2 phases of a three phase supply )" how do i go about powering it can i use a rpc or do i need a transformer type set up its 6.7kw input current
can anyone help
thanks

If you just have 240v 1 phase, then you could get a suitably sized 1 ph transformer (8Kva) to go from 240 to 415, the 240 volt circuit will have to be capable of suppling ~40amps.

220 is related to 380.

230 is related to 400.

240 is related to 415.

220, 230 and 240 are the single-phase line-to-neutral versions of 380, 400 and 415 three-phase Y, respectively.

EEU three-phase is either 380, 400 or 415, but it is "harmonized" on the average of those, 230/400Y, not withstanding the fact that most export equipment is 380 or 415, and not 400.

If you can find a 220/380 or a 230/400 or a 240/415 transformer, you'll be in good shape.

At the large mainframe computer manufacturer at which I was formerly employed, we built many machines for export, and we always incorporated a 220/230/240:380/400/415 transformer of our own design and specification.

I believe these were made for us by Fuji Electric.

The most common supplies in North America are 208 and 240, whereas the most common supplies in Europe are 380 and 415.

For some of our equipment, 200 was the supply, and for which we designed 208/240/380/415:200 transformers, for compatibility with both NA and EU mains.

Units supplied to Japan were not supplied with a transformer.

I agree, "export" transformers would be a good start.

Or, possibly, a dismantler of data processing equipment.
