Im curious to know how is it possible for the saddle to be moved manually via the handle(rack and pinion), when a ballscrew also controls the saddle? wont the ballscrew and nut hold the saddle? Is the ballscrew fixed, and a rotable nut used? please put me out of my misery, this has been bugging me for awhile. :)

Thanks

Hello,

I have a TL-1 and can shed some light on this for you.
When you are in manual mode the servos release and you can just back drive the ball screw. The encoders keep track of where the machine is like a dro would.

You can also do a chamfer, the machine has the servo directly mounted to the cross slide and when you turn that it adjusts the other axis accordingly.
