Brushless changeover?

What year did Haas switch to brushless motors? I'm looking at a business that has a 1996 VF1 with an HRT210 (red model) and a 1999 SL-20. I'm wondering if there is any easy way to determine when the brushless changeover happened and what these machines would have.

I believe it was 1996. I suppose one 'for sure' way to tell, would be the full rapid speed, which is likely painted on the machine: 710ipm was brushless, 400 was brushed, at least in VF3s, but I think the smaller machines had the same speed limits.

Also, if you have access to the machine, I am pretty sure that the amplifiers are labelled brushless, if that is what they are.

Excellent. The mill is older and labeled as "New version" which I take to mean it's not the plastic guarding like on Wrustle's mill. I was able to "go back in time" on the archive.org site and confirm these machines were 710ipm. I'll have the opportunity to view the machines this week, right now he's busy filling a big order.
