Haas w/ Renishaw table probing ERROR!

i/m getting error messages while trying to probe my tools. it will not let me probe.

error message is "OTS alarm"

i've noticed a blue light, along w/ the red & green light on the table probe itself.

do you think this is the battery wearing out?

probe windows and probe are clean of any objects or coolant.

machine and probe are 8 months old.

Check you batteries

Hi Richard,

If you got 8 months out of your batteries you are doing pretty good. I don't do a lot of probing but mine typically last about 6 months.

I would try some new batteries.

I had similar problems on my Haas mill and new batteries solved it. The problem got progressively worse over several days before it occurred to me to change them.

New batteries fixed the same problem for me. A word of advise - don't buy the replacement batteries at Radio Shack! Mine crapped out partway through a project that I needed to finish and the Shack was the only game in town, so I reluctantly paid almost $50 for two batteries. Ouch!!! The exact same batteries from BatteryJunction.com were $5 each. Guess where I buy all my batteries from now.
