Does anyone have any experience with the VF3SS?

Is the 30HP spindle and faster rapids worth the extra money?

Depends entirely on what you are doing. Al with +/- .010, no problem. HSM in SS, not gunna happen. The hotter pitch of the screws is harder to hold in position. If you are running light Al, it is a good machine for the most part. If you plan to run steels or bigger cutters, the standard rapids with a hotter spindle would be a better choice.

I'd stay away from the SS line. They (Haas) really try to push them everyone. Get a standard VF mill with a 10k spindle and HSM.

The tool change time you loose with the ss option paid for it's self the first job.
I wish it had more power under 200 rpm but the quickness makes it ok.
Watch out for flying tool holders HAAS means what they say about tool weight and 100% rapids.
