Did it actually try to change tools with the spindle at 90 degrees off? That must have done some damage if it did! WOW.
I've had Haas' spin the spindle around and around looking for the orientation location and finally alarming out from not finding it...but never had them think they were on location but really not.
I haven't been inside one of these things in so long I can't remember if there is a switch or encoder or what is in there to locate the spindle in the correct orientation. Somebody here will know. Hopefully it is something you can do yourself...
Fan died, overheated the encoded and lost position, and yes it tried to tool change 90 deg. out and chucked the holder and started the spindle with the tool 90 out at 12k rpm!
