The tool changer on my Haas TM1 seems to jerk around and pop when ever it drops or picks up a tool. I believe it is caused by it not clamping or unclamping the tool at the right height. I know there is an adjustment for that, anybody know were its at? I have seen machines pop a lot worse but if I can take 10 minutes and make it run a little smoother I may as well do it.

thanks

First, make sure that the tapers for both the spindle and your tool holders are clean. Even if they look clean, use some WD-40, or similar, and wipe the tapers good and see if that helps. This is the most common cause for "popping" during tool changes.

I would try to determine how well the tool changer arm is lining up with the "V" in the tool holder. While you are at it, check to see if spindle orient is adjusted properly.
Let us know how you make out and what you find to be the problem.
Regards Walt....
