Has anyone ran into a problem with an umbrella type changer hanging up when it goes to grab next tool? It put tools back normally but when it moves to the pocket to grab next tool it goes down but will alarm out saying tool not clamped. If I wait about 5 seconds after alarm comes up it will engage tool but then I have to recover. Is it a servo or some maintainence that can be done easy?

Sounds like a problem with the switches. Press the PARAM/DGNS key two times and you will see the diagnostics screen.

Look for tool DRAWBAR OPEN and DRAWBAR CLOSED listed at the bottom of the left column. There should be a 1 or 0 next to each one. They should be opposite of each other except for a moment while transitioning. Press and hold the tool unclamp button and watch these two diagnostics bits. While at rest and while holding the button the switches should never be the same. If one of them is, remove the cover and try cleaning with WD-40, contact cleaner, or similar. They will be in front and directly above the spindle with a big spring in between them.

Chances are that one of them is not changing state or does not change quick enough. If after cleaning one of them still does not change, then you may need to replace it.

Good luck!

Sounds like the precharge sticking a little. It does not let the air out quickly enough and so it shows unclamped as the switch is not triggered. If you remove the cover you will be able to watch it move. The draw bar will stop just short of engaging the switch, then like you said it will take a few extra seconds to complete and by that time the alarm is on.

Clean the precharge solenoid and the sintered brass filter

Thanks for the help, the drawbar is engaging properly. Since we can still operate machine with the hiccups, boss said to keep running and he will get service guy out to look at it soon. Will post again what the service guy finds and if he confirms what y'all said.
