Bull Gear Interference

I am working on rebuilding a Bridgeport 2J head. I am disassembling the head to give everything a good cleaning and lubricating. I replaced the bearings on the small bull gear and noticed, after I reassembled, that the clearance between large and small bull gears is very tight for about 1/2 to 3/4 of the rotation of the large bull gear. I did not make note if this was an issue before I disassembled. The only thing that changed was I had to file a burr off of the bore where large bull gear raises and lowers. I'm assuming this isn't normal. Any tips or ideas how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

TIR: Total Indicator Runout
Start by checking the outside of the bull gear and the small pinion gear.
Check pinion gear shaft for straightness.
