Need advice removing the dial holder on the Z-axis knee shaft. Appears to have an aluminum casting, and different from the Bridgeport. Any tips??

Back story: I have a Jet Turret Milling Machine JTM-4VS from 1998. We never maintained the machine particularly well, and it wasn't a surprise when the motor started smoking and burnt out. During the disassembly, we decided to investigate further, and unfortunately (or fortunately!) we broke some of the aluminum cast parts in the head assembly. Given that we've really only used this thing as a glorified drill press, the ways are in solid condition. The paint was in terrible shape, chips and cutting fluid had clogged the oil tubes...seemed like a great opportunity to just do a full rebuild. With a new Acer VFD head assembly in hand, we quickly began disassembling the rest of the machine and noticed a few differences between between our Jet and the Bridgeport (obviously).

I'd appreciate any guidance from guys who decided to go down this rabbit hole.
