Hardinge HLV-H gear set question

I recently purchased a 1971 Hardinge HVL-H and i didn't get any extra gears with it. I think they came new with a gear set for threading. Can anyone tell me if I'm right? And where to find the right gear set for my lathe? Do i need them? Or were they for specific threading and most never used them?

Thanks for your help

John

Hardinge HLV-H Operator's Manual:

-------------------------------------------
Page 11:
A set of five gears and a bracket are supplied as standard equipment with each machine. These gears, when set up to the gear chart, page 14, will cut 10 threads per inch.

Page 14:
10 threads per inch

First gear - 22 teeth
First gear on stud - 22 teeth
Second gear on stud - 60 teeth
Screw gear - 30 teeth
Idler - 55 teeth
-------------------------------------------

A metric gear box, banjo, and handful of gears costs about $980. Whether it is still available, I would call.

Attached is a photo of the Hardinge metric chart. These gear combinations bypass the English gear box. Some of the gears will be in the original set, some will be used for several different pitches.

The metric banjo has to be removed from the metric box if a English thread is to be selected from the built-in gear box. Otherwise the shift lever will not move left.
