It's a casting to be mounted on the bed to support the template holder for a tracer attachment. Fairly rare and usually separated from the rest of the kit. Made by Hardinge.
Besides the one in the link posted below, the only other ones I've seen I have owned.

Hardinge part i.d pt-a

Thanks as I scrolled down I saw a listing here.
OK How about the purpose behind this it was also buried in the cabinet.
Its marked PT-A and a PT-1.
I know its a compound but in seems to do more

It is part of the model PT tracer attachment, as clearly shown in the good pictures in the eBay link in post #3. Look at the pictures and see if you have any more of the pieces.

You'll win a Unicorn Award if you end up with ALL the original pieces for a tracer attachment. The only complete one I've ever seen for sale is that one still be on Ebay, has been on/off for an extended time, starting at $4+K. That ebay listing shows the pieces required. In addition to the tracer slide and support that you have, the template holder, rod, rod holder block,(had to make these 3 parts), and the micrometer-adjustable pt-1 and pt-2 (boring) tool-holders are required. The slides and tool-blocks come up on Ebay occasionally. I had the slide and micrometer adjustable toolholders, and made a support, template holder and block, then acquired a(rare) support from a generous member here. All that stuff gets separated, no way to know the nondescript stuff goes together, and some pieces aren't even marked with Hardinge. It works well, but is rather fussy to set up and use. Have drawings somewhere for homebrewed template holder and block if interested. Cheers.

Heres the pieces we have, and hopefully the lathe it will work on,
car2 I sent you a pm
