How do I find what Bridgeport series a 1957 mill is?

I was given a Bridgeport Mill, BR36697 which I believe makes it a 1957 model. The mill had been sitting in a home shop unused since 1982. How do I determine what series it is so I may get some literature on the mill? The owner had passed away and we can find no information on the mill. Thanks in advance for your help

Series? They didn't have series until Textron bought BP. You have an early Vee ram and head is more than likely a J or an M.

What's the serial on the head??? If it starts with J, you have a J head, M, an M head. There are others.

The base column and the head each have their own serial numbers. Heads can be moved from column to column.

Does your head have step pulleys or the variable speed handle?
