Hawking craigslist I just bought a 2 hp series 1 varispeed BP head.

Looking at this page: Page Title
is it right to call it a 2J varispeed or 2j2? Or are they the exact same thing?

the one I purchased doesn't have a motor, or the pulleys for the motor. Is there a good place to get the motor pulleys? When I get a motor is there anything in particular I need to watch out for? Shaft diameter/length? I've got no problem making an adapter plate but I don't have a lathe to turn down a shaft with if it needed that.

thanks for the help!

BP's use an extra long motor shaft. Without a lathe, I would just look for a used motor and pulley assy.

Series 1 BP, or 2J2 if it was a 2hp head.

The step pulley machines were called, J head step pulleys...

BTW you can fit a step pulley belt housing unit to the quill housing (If you want to use a VFD) and sell the mechanical drive parts off...

No cranking speed dial, just twist a knob, no expensive wear parts..
