My hlv-h spindle makes a slight squeaking noise while running, and it has gotten progressively worse. I think it might be time to change the bearings. This is not something that I want to attempt myself. Does anyone know how much it might cost to send the spindle (headstock) out for rebuild? I am interested to know where to send it as well. I would like to avoid Hardinge due to their high rates.
Although the bed is in good shape, I might want it reground while I have the headstock off. Do you need to shim under the bed after a regrind?
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
