What kind of condition would you rate these two mills in?

Thanks for the tip. What clued you in? The fact that it looks like they started to redo the ways then abandoned the project was a red flag for me

It looked to me like they were parts donors, and if you tried to put both together there still may not be enough parts. If you want a project, and want to learn to scrape ways, well go for it, but if you want 1 working machine, why bother?

Of course, if a machine rebuilder is selling a non working machine, you have to ask why, its like a mechanic selling a non-running car. Car minus engine because he robbed it for another car, and you need a shell, sure. Whole car, not running, and he is a mechanic, you gotta figure something is really wrong with it.

Both machines are junk. He's getting scrap price or a little less.

Where's the guy that wanted a BP column? This would be the chance. Get 2 pieces of junk for very little. This is what guys like John Fahnstock (sp) made their money on for years. John would take machines like that and go through them then sell for $4K. He'd done enough that he probably had a pile of BP parts.

If you wanted chrome ways, how much would it cost:
1 Transport your worn out knee.
2. Get it ground and flaked.
3. Get it chrome plated.
4. Transported back to you.

$450 ?
