Thread: Bridgeport 8F powerfeed chatter

I was running the X feed in the left direction and the vise hit the machine. I quickly disengaged the powerfeed. The powerfeed runs smooth in the left direction but chatters in the right direction. Took the drive off the mill and it still chatters in the right direction. manual feed in both directions is fine. Took apart the drive and don't see anything wrong inside. Motor runs fine when separated from drive. Gear on mator and driven gear inside look OK. Any ideas on what part I may need to adjust or replace? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul

Sheared key on the main shaft. IIRC, it's a #7 woodruff.

Thanks JR. I will check it out. I have the on-line manual showing the parts exploded view. Wondered when you disassemble and reassemble if there any adjustments that you have to make? Manual doesn't cover that.
