bridgeport cnc as screw machine?
I have a hardinge manual screw machine in process of rebuilding, but I have a lot of work to get it done. I could also spend the time converting the boss to mach3. I was thinking about how I could convert the manual screw machine to CNC, when I thought how could I use what I have. so heres the thought. I need to make 1000 each of 2 small aluminum parts with a couple ops including a hole and cbore. it is 3/8od and accuracy is not critical. I was wondering if a chuck the 3/8 stock in the collet and put my 3-4 tools on the bport table, could I in effect turn the 4 operations into a cnc program, then just reload the 3/8 stock in the collet each time? Has anyone done anything like this? any ideas how I would set up the program?
thanx
