Could potentially grab his lathe for cheap, but....
Its missing its cross and compound. There is a good deal of surface rust, but should be cleanable....... Owner says its a TL-5 that has been converted to single phase 110v
Think i should get it and try and find the parts, or is it a lost cause...... What would you pay for the thing while it is a paperweight?

What is cheap? Anything is fixable if you have the time patience and money. If you are looking for a project, by all means pick it up, if you need a lathe today this may not be the one. Parts are available for these machines if you look hard enough. Interested to know where the original parts went. Scrap is high so you always have a way out if it's beyond repair. PS I'd stay in the $200 to $400 range the way it sits

What ever the going rate for 1,500 pounds of scrap is in your area. No more, and maybe less if you can. Looks like more of a parts machine than a fixer.

Looks like a good project machine. Wouldn't expect it to be usable without a bit of work.
If you do get it I may be able to help with a crosslide.

Not even for free............
I would ask the current owner, " How much will you pay me to haul that piece of scrap out of here? "
