Default Hardinge SV 200 G30 safe index

How do you change where the safe index point is. I'm using G30 U0 W0, I have changed para#502 but it seems to make no difference.
This has not been a problem since we have only used machine for collet jobs. But we have put the chuck on and now I need to move the indexing point in z back to clear the chuck.

    Thanks for the help

G30 is controlled via parameter 1241 and are set with metric values without decimals and use a 3.3 format meaniing that 123456 is equal to 123.456mm

Thanks Tom, that worked. I saw that there are a 1242, 1243 and a 1244 are these programmable safe indexes and if they are how do they work.

    Thanks, Jim

    Jim,
I can't locate it for sure in my information however these additional reference positions may be an option on that control. You could give them a try to see if they work. Bascially the setup is the same meaning the values of the 3rd (parameter 1242) and 4th (parameter 1243) must be set. The program format is G30P3U0W0 and G30P4U0W0.
    Give it try
