Which CAM software would work with a 4-Axis Grinder?

I have to build a custom grinder for a very specific product we manufacture. It will have X,Y,Z axis similar to that of a standard VMC. The 4th axis is in the form of a horizontal rotary table.

The trick is that I need full contouring on all 4 axis to create some pretty nasty profiles.

Questions:
  1. Can we add a "Custom" tool so the CAM software knows what the cutting profile is?
  2. Can it properly compensate for the width radius of the grinding wheel?
  3. For a proof of concept, I was thinking of retrofitting a surface grinder or 3 axis VMC with a rotary table. Any thoughts?
  4. My primary interest is in VisualMill for SolidWorks, are we headed in the right direction?

That's all for now.

I run a 4 axis CNC Jig Grinder. The CAD/CAM Software I use now is out of date; is there a recommendation you can make as far as which CAD/CAM software you decided to go with?

Thanks,
-Nick
