I have to build a custom grinder for a very specific product we manufacture. It will have X,Y,Z axis similar to that of a standard VMC. The 4th axis is in the form of a horizontal rotary table.
The trick is that I need full contouring on all 4 axis to create some pretty nasty profiles.
Questions:
That's all for now.
The trick is that I need full contouring on all 4 axis to create some pretty nasty profiles.
Questions:
- Can we add a "Custom" tool so the CAM software knows what the cutting profile is?
- Can it properly compensate for the width radius of the grinding wheel?
- For a proof of concept, I was thinking of retrofitting a surface grinder or 3 axis VMC with a rotary table. Any thoughts?
- My primary interest is in VisualMill for SolidWorks, are we headed in the right direction?
That's all for now.
