Default edge cam users

our company uses edge cam and most of our programmers aren't really that happy with it. i have never used master cam but i do use edge cam and smart cam. edge cam seems to have too many locking up problems and errors when saving files. any tid bits that might leed me into a possible upgrade? i have heard that master cam is the way to go.

Been using Edgecam since DOS days when it was Pathtrace PAMS. Most of the problems you describe are related to video drivers.

Another thing to minimize crashes, periodically delete the cache. Even though you have to be in manufacture to delete cache, this will remove temp. drawing info as well. In the DOS days this was called "tidy the temps".

You can drive the system nuts when trimming entities when one entity is not in the current plane. Of course this only happens when you're about two hours into it and when it crashes, the whole thing is lost because the autosave crashes too.

Sometimes Edgecam tells you it will create a .ppb back up when it crashes. But it doesn't always want to open the .ppb later. Usually, you can delete the original file and change the .ppb to .ppf and open normally.
