I'm looking for advice on engraving. I have some small parts to engrave with some kind of fancy lettering on my VMC. I need to, or would like to use SolidWorks for this. It seems that it would be best if the font text was just a single line, that the ball endmill could trace. I can't find default text that is not enclosed.

Any idea's on this? TIA

Jay

What software are you planning on using to output the G-code? You could draw it up in SW and import that into MasterCam (favorite), or various other CAM programs.

Google for these fonts -

Simplex
SWSimp
SWMono
SWTxt

and one should work for you. Also, Camworks has a font called camworks.ttf that will work if you can find it somewhere online. Alternately you can download a font editor and change another font into one that has only an outline, I did that when I had to engrave Times Roman on some parts.
