Custom order job shop in Baltimore needs an experienced CAD/CAM draftsman/designer to join our team. This person will support the entire production process, from initial design through manufacturing to quality assurance. Potential to progress into a shop supervisory/management position.
Our ideal professional will possess a minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience with 3+ years of CAD/CAM Drafting (we use AutoCAD, Solidworks and GibsCAM) experience in a machine shop environment. Previous hands-on experience with Manual and CNC machining is a HUGE plus.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret specifications and customer requirements to create/modify designs, drawings, production blue prints
- Create shop drawings from customer supplied prints
- Create models and drawings from conceptual designs
- Reverse engineering of mechanical parts
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments
- Review and modify designs to reduce production deficiencies
- Design fixtures and jigs to ease manufacturing processes
- Provide cut lists, hardware lists, etc.
- Maintain electronic job file organization
- Perform in-process inspection to verify measurements and specifications
- Assist with job estimating, material ordering, and project management
- Lift, position, adjust, secure raw materials with varying weights
- Preform manufacturing tasks as required to assist machinists/assemblers in completion of jobs
Qualifications:
- Ability to draw parts in CAD/CAM applications
- Knowledge of our core manufacturing processes: milling, turning, grinding, welding, mechanical repairs, modifications and assembly
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision
- AA in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Technology or relevant job experience
- Ability to read, interpret and understand technical drawings, geometric dimensions, tolerance callouts, welding symbols and quality specs
- Ability to work directly with shop employees, customers and vendors
- Must perform work in a timely manner with respect to schedule and quality standards
- Proficiency with different metal types and sizes
- Strong mechanical skills
- Experience with coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programing a plus
