1918 L&S Money Maker

Nice. How much work piece weight will that unit handle?

Somewhere I read that Babbitt was comfy at 1000 PSI. If that is so, the 10 X 13.75 front bearing should be comfy at 137,500 lbs. I doubt that the drum assy weighs more than 20,000 if that.

You'd have problems replacing it in this day and age.

Q - What's the speed range? - 112" dia = <> 29ft circ - 5 RPM & you're ''cooking'' HSS

Original range 1.2 to 187 on the 60" version of the 48" Heavy Pattern. Don't know if they slowed it down more than that or not.

Good thing I wasn't asked to guess the weight of that drum shaft - I missed it by 40K in my post above. About 60,000 Lbs going around in that lathe they claim.
 
Mark (morsetaper2) was kind enough to fix me up with these, which I could not find for the life of me.
