Basically, unless you have one or very few overly worn players, it isn't "adjusted", it is lived-with.

A quarter inch is nothing, thats pretty much new. We had some that were half a turn, they ran fine just a bit noisy but still do the job. They are still running them everyday. My 2ch is about the same backlash it is a creampuff almost no hours on it when I got it.

Thanks for letting me know. The mill came out of a local university technology lab 30 years ago and sat in the guys home shop for the last 30 years. It hasn't been abused. Im just getting to know whats what about it.
